HALLOWE’EN CONCERT /POTLUCK/CANDY FEST 2013
5:00-5:30 Set up and tuning
5:30-6:30 Halloween Concert (“Play-In” style-as in, informal)
6:30-7:00 SUPPER for EVERYONE, players, audience, siblings, parents and teachers! IN THE LOBBY-no food in the sanctuary, warn the kids, please.
7:00-7:30 “Trick-or-treating”, back in the Sanctuary. If you want to be one of the treat giver outers, please tell us! Kids will move from person to person, playing a very short bit of a piece, or, if they prefer, singing a song, or telling a joke, and collecting candy from each adult. It is a lot of fun and ALL kids, visitors and siblings, too, are welcome to join in.
7:30-8:00 Clean Up.
Our Cello/Flute Halloween Concert is a great tradition, and is a good time for parents to socialize as well.
PROGRAM ORDER is at the bottom of this post.
Please put your music in your Halloween folder in the given order. (see bottom of this page). This means you, REDS! (and Blues, as well)
This will avoid a lot of music-falling-right-off-the-stand issues. You must bring your STRAP, your CELLO STOOL if you are using a smaller than regular chair-VERY IMPORTANT as there are NO substitute small chairs at the church, and your MUSIC., AND A MUSIC STAND, preferably a solid black one if you have one. ALSO YOUR BOW. (not a joke!)
We will have the use of the Sanctuary from 5 until 8 PM at our usual church, St Paul’s United. Enter as usual and go right at the top of the stairs (instead of left as usual.) Please arrive as soon after 5 PM as you can. Tuning and set up in a new place always takes a lot of time. Cases may be left at the sides of the Sanctuary itself. We will need and will appreciate lots of parental help moving things and assembling cello chairs, and also disassembling and food clean- up at the end. Plus as usual, veteran parents to set up the potluck as in other years in the lobby area behind the Sanctuary, before and towards the end of the concert. If you can bring
any of the following:
DRINKS (bottled water and juice boxes)
PAPER PLATES AND CUTLERY
TREAT COLLECTING BAGS
LARGE STRONG GARBAGE BAGS
Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you want to bring one of these items,
so I can know we are covered and can avoid too much of one thing.
Please bring an ample first course dish to share. The kids will get candy after supper so please, no sweet desserts. Fruit (such as fruit trays) is fine. Pizza is fine too. As are long, cut up Subway subs, etc. No need for fancy cooking if it is not your thing. Please, no dishes needing heating up or cooking at the church. Our rental does not include a kitchen.
Also, try to bring things that are relatively neat to eat-for the kids anyway. This true potluck-as-in-bring-anything system has worked well for a great feast, other years.
Kids, WEAR YOUR COSTUME!
(Make sure the costume is cello playing friendly)
