This is week 2 of our March Break. There will be NO PRIVATE LESSONS for Jo-Anne’s students or regular Thursday GROUPS for anyone. Regular lessons resume Monday, March 26th. (NOTE: The “Vivaldi Orphans” have received a separate email from Paul Mitchinson)
A reminder that the Gala concert at the QEPark opening Gala is THIS Saturday, March 24th at QEPark, where we had the chamber Music Festival in early March.
The following applies to RED Group (AKA The Cantabile Cello Choir)
Time is tight, as is the use of the room. DO NOT WANDER IN AT THE LAST MINUTE!
ARRIVE BY 12 NOON SHARP. We will put bow to string at 12:30.
This (12:30PM) is a Dress Rehearsal, immediately before the concert. It takes place in the room with the wooden floor, right next to the tiered room we used for the Chamber Festival. The floor is designed for dancers and is very slippery wood, which must not be damaged in any way. You MUST bring your STRAP!! DO NOT COUNT ON A RUBBER ENDPIN PROTECTOR, EITHER. A donut, or black hole or square plastic endpin stopper is not secure enough. They slip on any smooth floor, and nothing is more disconcerting than the cello sliding away in the middle of playing! You need your stool, if you use one, and a music stand, as stable as possible, preferably a non folding type.
BRING YOUR OWN STAND as they are not supplied by the facility and we want each child to have his/her own.
PUT YOUR MUSIC in THIS order in your red folder- make sure you arrange it so there are no page turns in any piece.
Corelli Christmas Concerto: Kayla, Kristen, Else, Clara, Andy and Jonathan only.
Telemann Concerto for 4 cellos-all
Allegro Moderato: melody only: Clara, Kristen, Else, Kayla, Heather
ONLY BRING YOUR RED FOLDER WITH THIS MUSIC IN THIS ORDER WITH YOU!
WE DO NOT WANT BAGS WITH EVERYTHING YOU HAVE EVER PLAYED CARRIED ONSTAGE! IF YOU FORGET A PIECE, YOU WILL NOT PLAY THAT PIECE!
We will need parents to help carry stands and stools from the rehearsal room to the concert hall. Thanks for your continued contribution, everyone!
Also, I am in the middle of creating a display board for the “Try A Cello” part of the day.
I would love some more current pictures to use of any of our cellists in a concert, group, lesson, or practise situation. I have an area of the display board entitled “Our Program” and could use more pics, especially from the Christmas concert. Priority to ones with cellos in them- the kids do not need to actually be playing. All ages would be great!
Email anything you have to me and I will be very appreciative. I will use as many as I can.
