Cello Events

On SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 25th, 2011, the Oakville Suzuki Association is hosting the2011 WELCOME CONCERT,

FAMILY BBQ.at Glen Abbey United Church, 4th Line and Upper Middle Road.

Please click on the OSA link for details. This is an optional concert for cellists, which is why it is not listed on the Group Lesson Schedule that you were sent in August. We will have had just one group class prior, and the concert is short, featuring a taste of cello, piano, violin, flute, guitar, and possibly viola.

If you are on the executive and need to come, or if you want a nice informal afternoon concert and some hot dogs, hamburgers and pop,  come out and bring your cello (and bow and chair and strap and music and stand, LOL)

We will be playing, and this depends on which cello families show up:

French Folk Song

Go Tell Aunt Rhody

Perpetual Motion

Minuet #2

Hunter’s Chorus

a cello accompaniment to go with some violin fiddle tunes,

perhaps Greensleeves

perhaps Dona Nobis Pacem- one or the other

Other pieces mentioned, such as “Rebecca” will be saved until Halloween.

It is an oppotrtunity for new families to hear and see each instrument, and a low key, pleasant way to spend an afternoon. There will be a sign-up sheet at the first group class and an opportunity to fulfil some volunteer requirments: Genevieve will not be there and I will need help with:

1) chair and child set-up

2) TUNING! -including latecomers

3) clean-up, post concert; this is often left to the teachers and should not be!

We will give final details at the prior Thursday group class.  Dress is your group colour T-shirt, or camp T-shirt if you have one, and casual pants and shoes.

Be sure to visit the OSA website-the link is on the menu bar, here, and get your food tickets which must be ordered in advance.

Hope you can come!
